Aloe Vera has long been known as a miracle plant – providing amazing benefits to the hair, skin and one's general health. Skin care using aloe vera helps ensure healthy and vibrant skin. It also helps to heal wounds, moisturize the skin and restore its pH balance. This member of the aloe family is also rich in vitamin E and other antioxidants that help maintain your skin's youthful glow.
Aside from this, you will find that aloe vera is generously infused with essential minerals, active compounds and amino acids that protect the skin and help lessen inflammation. It is able to provide the skin with an increased amount of oxygen so that tissues are strengthened and the skin is renewed.
It is a useful plant to have around, as you can make your own cream, masks and other facial product using this plant. You can even make your own facial mask. Take one teaspoon of aloe vera juice, and mix with 1 teaspoon clay (the clean kind, of course) and a teaspoon of witch hazel. Add water so that the mixture becomes a paste and add a drop each of lavender, essential tea tree oil and peppermint. Put the mixture on your cleansed face and let it stay for 15 minutes. Then, rinse the mask off with water. Gently blot the face with a towel or air dry. This recipe is for normal skin.
For skin that is oily or has blemishes, you can mix aloe vera juice (which is thinned to the consistency of water) with a few drops of essential oil. You can spray this as a mist to help combat oily skin.
